During a recent festival in Florence where we were invited, we had a little talk and played some jokes with Gianni Sinni and Andrea Rauch.
More than ten years ago, just a book of Andrew was the spark that brought Daniele into the world of graphics. This coincidence created, in the spirit of Jodorowsky, a good climate of mutual curiosity, and months later we found ourselves sending each other large parcels of books.
This is how Gianni, Art director of Lcd, invited Fupete to illustrate the first issue of the magazine FFF – Florence Fast Forward, dedicated to the visionaries of the contemporary and relatively slow Tuscan capital; an initial collaboration that is meant to continue for the next issues to come.
[From the introduction to the n. 1 of FFF:] “I believe in the Lunatic – said Tibor Kalman, one of the better communicators of our time – they are the crack in the wall of the status quo. Florentines by birth who, for election and those who by chance, the authors of texts and the works published here are all in this group of visionaries to the profession”.
Our Fupete’s drawings accompany the reader from the cover through the 120 pages of portraits, full page illustrations and signs, scattered everywhere. A section marked in black and colored signs to highlight, delete, and entertain become the main theme of the entire work while some fast forward broken visuals recall the issue of the magazine.
The last section of the magazine contains a comprehensive eight-pages curated by Nasonero: an article by Erika Gabbani about some of her artist friends who have shared the same experience at the Academy of Florence and ultimately three new artworks of Fupete.
