CART or CresperimentArt, is the open-air art yard held in Crespina, the village in Tuscany where Erika was born.
Young artists from across Italy are selected (15, through competition) to achieve environmental installations along a path that winds for the entire village of Crespina, crossing and contaminating four days many historic villas, gardens and public squares and even bars, restaurants and recreational club.
Born from an idea of Erika and some childhood friends who take care through the first pro-loco and their non-profit Association CRE-A. It’s entirely funded by the Municipality of Crespina for the 2004 and 2006 editions.
Also in this edition from environmental installations to performances, from painting to live sculpture on marble, from situationism that interacting with the patrons of the bar to a video artists from house to house reflect the daily life… every art form is present among the young artists selected. And many events, related exhibitions and workshops are open to all are the framework for these 4 days of collective madness.
Enclose in a catalogue that happens in 2006, taking care of the texts to graphic design, from budget to distribution, at the festival-submission to the public in the council chamber of Municipality, is a complex project that we undertake an entire summer.
The catalogue is designed so that browsing through the first part the reader live the experience of walking in the country during the four days: as frames of a film is run through page by page the images of the memory of the visitor who is walking. For each visual content, if something interest particularly, a double page numbering and a complex color code lead quickly to details and description of the artist, of the project and the specific location that you are observing in the second part of the catalogue.
The course of the festival, and thus also this catalogue, it has two purposes to occupy the entire village with the art but also to make it known, during and after, in its distinctive features and characteristics: every place of art is in fact described also in its history and many anecdotes that characterize the presence in the village.
